The Evening Echo published an article about a proposed multi million euro scheme to end the practice pumping an estimated billion gallons of untreated waste water into Cork Harbour. This scheme is part of broader plans to build a mini-tourism industry around the harbour. The Cork Lower Harbour Main Drainage Scheme is scheduled for completion in 2016. This sewerage scheme will be capable of treating wastewater for a population of up to 80,000 homes in an area that will include Crosshaven.
